At first glance, Katanagatari doesn’t seem to be very plot-centric, instead only valuing action as its first priority. However, it turns out that Katangatari is, in fact, still not very plot-centric, but neither does it have the action to boot! And despite all that, it still manages to be entertaining! What gives?

What do you get if you mix diluted versions of SHAFT’s visual quirks into a story about classrooms that battle eachother using summoned avatars of themselves? Apparently, the result is a hit-or-miss anime that either one abhors with every fiber of his being, or loves with all his soul.

If you’ve ever watched Higurashi with half a heart, I suppose it would be no surprise for you to find Ookamikakushi to bear quite a haunting resemblance to it, particularly with it’s mysterious-town setup and a cast full of potentially batshit insane lolis.

So I’m finally caught up on Letter Bee now, and I think I just found another gem of Fall 2009. Whereas Kimi ni Todoke excels at romance/characters, Letter Bee prefers to amaze its audience with a mysterious yet beautiful world setting.
