Feel free to express your opinion here, but please refrain from directly flaming or insulting others.
@Elton, regarding comments in Railgun 09 post:
Perhaps I may have gone overboard in my responses, and if you do feel insulted, then I apologize. Now that I understand that you’re not trying to troll, I’m going to attempt to explain this in a civilized manner.
The reason why I’m taking this personally is because of how you wrote your entrance post. I treated The Legend with courtesy because he elaborated on his thoughts alone, and was not trying to come across as a troll (I’ll be honest Elton, you sounded like one to me). In contrast, your post was dripping with haughtiness because it was as if you were commanding me to do something.
Lines in question:
– “Seriously, learn to blog good anime.”
– “Please, this is not your mainstream anime and learn to blog how it’s suppose to be blogged like.”
It might not have been your intention, but you basically implied that you know how to blog perfectly and is better than me. In this world, the tone of one’s argument can be just as important as the content. If a man is thirsty, do you think he should demand water or ask for it? Of course, this is just an elaboration on my part for why I was so angry. Like I said, I am a very serious business type of person.
And now, for the meat of your argument, copy/pasted for convenience:
“The anime club is reestablished with the idea of promoting a unique form of media to the newcomers; now I will not ignore the fact that there are (old viewers), but to introduce this media to newcomer with this style of blogging, intertwining your opinions along with the summary of the episode, is more of a turn-off. You need a more neutral state in order to let the newcomers have a sense of opinion for the episode. That way they can form their own ideas and whatnot.”
(Before we begin, I’d like to express that I really like this paragraph, because it actually sounds genuine and sincere for once, lol)
Anyways, yes, if you put it that way, then it does make sense for the blog to remain as neutral as possible. I understand your position to be that this blog is supposed to purely inform, correct?
Sir, therein lies the most fundamental division between us. I started this blog with the intention of informing (in terms of club-related things), but also with a freedom of expression. A blog with nothing but summaries (and short commentaries) is good in its own way, but if a member really wanted that, I’d refer him/her to Random Curiosity (they can do it 10x better, and yes I love that place) instead. The style this blog is striving for is one of individuality, of thoughts, mind, and opinion. I want anyone who wishes to express their thoughts about anime to join. If the whole Anime Club joins this blog, then it’s the whole Anime Club that will be sharing their experiences, feelings, and thoughts (about anime, hopefully) with each other. Maybe it will put off newcomers, but some things have to be sacrificed for uniqueness. This blog is unique in this sort of way, and whether someone will choose to accept it is entirely up to him/her. So if you don’t accept it, then I have no choice but to say “sorry”.
@The Legend:
Many apologies if you are offended that your post got deleted; it was offtopic. Still, I remember the part about how you were saying it’s bad to let the people choose which anime to watch (correct me if I’m wrong).
In certain respects, you’re right in that what the people choose may not be what satisfies everyone. But then, I dare say nothing really does. Toradora! was actually voted from a list of 5 animes that the staff had handpicked themselves. What we think is good obviously does not mean others will also think is good, and so we attempted to span genres and only selected those with somewhat of a universal appraisal. If the people are willing to choose and decide which one is best, I’m willing to trust them. I’m certainly no better than any of them, yes?
If the rewatching aspect is your qualm however, then I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do. Perhaps later in the year we’ll implement a concurrent season anime series system, where we’ll screen the latest episode of a still on-going series from the current season (that is not Naruto or Bleach, don’t worry).
Yes, I havet been trying to troll you from the start; I’m actually trying to help the Anime Club hopefully stay strong because during the past years at GHS, the Anime Club failed too many times in a row.
Secondly, I showed you my face in order to let you know who I am but you didn’t met me eye to eye; you actually avoided eye contact with me, and now I have some doubt that you’re “a very serious business type of person.” (I don’t mean any offense by quoting this) What I wanted to know if the Anime Club President was actually a strong leader, but I can’t base my assumptions with just this meeting we had today.
Lastly, good luck to the Anime Club, I do hope it reaches the end of the year so it can make it into the Yearbook (Maybe I’ll be the one to take the picture but I don’t know yet).
Action speak louder than words; I hope I won’t disappoint you.
(PS: you’d more likely win the lottery than see Anime Club fold!)
Right….. Elton was correct . If you are uneasy / uncertain / afraid to meet eye contact with the opponent then you will lose the fight. You lost the fight today , and for that I too believe the club will fail. As not only a high school student but also as a leader your suppose to stand up and fight for what decisions you make instead of avoiding unneeded circumstances.
ALSO ” Toradora! was actually voted from a list of 5 animes that the staff had handpicked themselves. ”
EXACTLY my point, you let your staff make the decision, instead of you. Anime that all of you guys had knowledge of. What would have been better is if you went to ONEMANGA.COM , look in the category : shounen and find some that arnt that popular that have an anime.
FOR INSTANCE BLACK CAT! or others .
You need to learn a little something about leadership before you can actually maintain a society .
…Those are some hasty judgements you got there, but if it serves you well, so be it. I don’t want to prolong this part of the argument; it’s hard enough trying not to take this personally.
Do note, however, that I have my own way of leading the anime club; whether it’s effective or not remains to be seen. I ain’t no Julius Caesar, and I don’t intend to be. In my eyes, an anime club should be interactive, and me deciding on everything does nothing to encourage that. I have enough faith in humanity to trust in democracy.
Wow…. you have faith to trust in humanity. You do know how stupid that is right? In this day and age , humanity needs TRUE leadership in order to be at one with the balance of peace and nature. The fools , such as you , who dont take care of their society usually get overthrown / swayed to the side / or assassinated within some time of their ruling. Many historic leaders have fallen to the sands of redemption and been swallowed up by an inifinte pool of depression . You are leading the club just like all the other leaders , if you had any real leadership skills you would live up and learn from past experiences and find out that current laws and regulations of your club and your staff will fail. Good Job, Nixon. Good Job.
Please read what I posted. Let’s not make this personal. I don’t need to ask you who you are or why you should even be this important to us, speaking of leaders and humanity and who’s fit for what.
Give a suggestion and leave. I’m sure you have much to say, so just throw suggestions at us. We’re new to this, so please be open and understanding. No need to be offended.

lollllllll why are u so obsessed with this club!!??! it’s not like ur trying to say “Stop before you embarrass yourself.” (unless Im so DUMB that I hardly understand ur post Or that I am exactly right and that I barely read a few sentences of ur posts) So… what’s ur point?? change the society??
ey guys ive been posting regularly ~love the gaming post, knight~ just wanna say that you guys should try to get more screening days in our schedule
keep up the good work guys!!
The point is, this is a suggestion (idk what..) page?. As the name goes, this is for suggestions to the club. Now, from your last post, you said they are warnings. What Elton has said is a suggestion but what you have said doesn’t (really) fit the definition.
At the very least, say your suggestions (unless you have none) in a calmer way.
Well, like the above poster, what is your goal? To change the club? Then make a clear(er) suggestion right here. (Instead of filling this page of weird angry messages? (like you hate the club))
Above poster = person above Guy
I’m so slow!!!!!!! =P
Kind of surprised seeing my old high school’s anime club having a blog listed on Anime Nano…
To be honest, I was expecting a trainwreck of idiocy (pretty much why I ragequit’d the club in my senior year; the elected officers were too scatterbrained for my taste), but after reading through the entries on this blog, I’m very happy to see that this year’s officers are quite insightful and well-articulated.
I’ll continue to follow this blog, and I really do hope the Anime Club does last more than two years in a row. My faith has been slightly re-instilled in me after today.
I doubt I have any advice to give you guys (I was only a lowly secretary 3 or 4 years ago…), but it looks like the club is doing fine right now.
Bye for now! o/
also lul @ drama on this page
Haha, thanks. I figured it’d be pretty cool to have a dual purpose club website that also serves as a club anime blog (although I admit it’s still nowhere near the quality of other professional anime blogs out there…), so yeah.
Enjoy your stay~
I know this is being off-topic but it’s been a little over a year, how is this club going now?
Good. We get a decent number of people in our screenings, we’ve made a Manga Library system, and we’re planning to do something special for the Food Faire. The club won’t be blowing up anytime soon.
To whom it may concern,
I just wanted to say that your blog has inspired me to make an Anime club in my high school. Your posts have left a story of a previous Anime club and we’ve been using it as a guide to persist as a whole. It’s only our second year and we are still fairly new.
With all that being said, we are short on ideas and we’ve been attempting to seek help from different people about planning events, gathering more members, and contributing to our school environment as a whole with our Anime Club. If you could reply to our email, dahsanimeclub2022@gmail.com, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, just know that you’ve been a huge help to us regardless. I hope this reaches you well. 🙂
Sincerely,
A president from a different High School.
